WHAT IS POSH & HOW IT CAN HELP ORGANIZATIONS TO MAKE A HEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT?

Prevention of sexual harassment (POSH) is a law uniquely designed to help the organization to manage the sexual harassment at the workplaces, by setting up the compliances with sexual harassment of women at the workplace. The sexual Harassment of women at workplace like prevention, prohibition and redressal act 2013 is a legislative act passed by the Lok Sabha in the year 2012 for the women safety at the workplace.

The act is unique in several ways. Initially, it recognizes the amount of fundamental violation of women’s rights may include the right to live with their dignity and status in any profession or business.

Unpredictably, the act only protects mostly women in India. If a man is a victim of sexual harassment at the workplace he wouldn’t be able to be protected by the provisions of the POSH Act and he should be dependent only on the company policies that define harassment in any nature. But, these policies in many organizations have enacted gender-neutral POSH policies.
